            BISCAYNE APPAREL APPOINTS NEW BOARD MEMBER

CLIFTON, NJ - (March 10, 1997) Biscayne Apparel, Inc. (ASE: BHA) today
announced  the appointment of R. Stephen Lefler to its Board of Directors. Mr.
Lefler (47) is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hartwell
Sportswear, Inc., a leading manufacturer of jackets, knit shirts, and
activewear to the blank wearables and uniform industry. Hartwell is an
affiliate of Trivest, Inc., a private investment firm. Lefler holds an MBA from
Harvard Business School. 

Earl W. Powell, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "We are
delighted to add Steve Lefler to our Board of Directors. He brings over 20
years experience as a senior apparel executive to our organization. His
manufacturing expertise will be invaluable in guiding our Company in its next
stage of development."
