(ASE:BHA) today announced the appointment of Donald O. Cilley (51), as President of Varon, Inc., its children's underwear and girl's daywear division. Cilley has over 27 years experience in apparel manufacturing. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Zelda, Inc., a privately held women's bridge-price sportswear manufacturer located in New York, NY. Cilley entered the apparel industry after graduating from college. He spent 14 years with Bobbie Brooks in various management positions, including three years in Hong Kong, first as Managing Director, and then as Director of Asian Operations. Upon returning to the U.S., he became the company's Vice President of Manufacturing. Cilley held similar executive management roles with Bidermann Industries, Land n Sea, Bonaventure Textiles USA, Liz Claiborne (Russ Togs division), and Leslie Fay Companies. His responsibilities included manufacturing, sourcing, distribution, purchasing, scheduling, engineering, costing, pattern and sample making, and quality control. Cilley received a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Findlay College. He will report directly to Peter Vandenberg, Jr., the Company's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Varon is a supplier of children's underwear and girl's daywear, which are marketed to mass merchandisers and regional chains under private label programs and the Amy brand name. Most of Varon's products are cotton, though its thermal underwear line is 65% cotton and 35% polyester. Varon has been successful in growing its business through product development and line extension. Varon's underwear line was expanded to include girl's daywear sets and boy's underwear. Both products are offered in thermal cotton interlock and jersey fabrics, and have received excellent acceptance in the private label markets.
