          EQUUS GAMING REPORTS RENEWAL OF RACING AT
                   V CENTENARIO RACETRACK
                              
                              
     SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO_ Equus Gaming Company L.P.

(Nasdaq: EQUUS), a publicly traded partnership with horse

racing and gaming interests in the Caribbean announced today

the renewal of racing operations at V Centenario Racetrack

in the Dominican Republic on Thursday, October 22.

     Racing at V Centenario, as at El Comandante racetrack

in Puerto Rico, was canceled as a result of damages

inflicted by Hurricane Georges on September 21-22, 1998.

     At El Comandante racetrack, management is working

diligently to restore operations.  However, it is not

certain the date it will be ready for operations.

     Both racetracks are adequately covered by insurance,

including business interruption.

     Equus owns and operates El Comandante racetrack in

Puerto Rico and also operates through its foreign

subsidiaries two government-owned racetracks:  V Centenario

in the Dominican Republic and Presidente Remon in Panama.
